<br />
So for the benefit of Jane and all the other ladies out there who like funky, flat, colourful pumps, here is my low down....<br />
<br />
Jane's pair I that was coveting were a striking fuschia pink & silver combo from <a href="http://www.rogersonshoes.com/index.htm" target="_blank">Fine Rogerson Footwear</a>, Rose Street Edinburgh. (Jane did some major damage when she hit Rogerson's buying two other pairs also!!) She swears by the brand - Hispanitas - and they look so cool....<br />
<br />

<br />
Thanks to a Twitter follow, I came across <a href="http://tieks.com/" target="_blank">Tieks</a> recently. These uber cool ballet pumps come folded-up and packed neatly into a cute turquoise box. I've never seen them in the UK so if anyone has a pair please give me a shout and let me know what they're like? They look lovely on the website. I'm loving the outragous neon orange ones!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-szcQT271U1M/UapV_I9G0sI/AAAAAAAAAZ0/gpnLluVIsfo/s1600/neon_orange_legs_.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-szcQT271U1M/UapV_I9G0sI/AAAAAAAAAZ0/gpnLluVIsfo/s1600/neon_orange_legs_.jpg" /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="-webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; color: black;"></span></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vsIt1FN2wy8/UapWGzuKcgI/AAAAAAAAAZ8/t_hPU_Ku5Ts/s1600/_0008_outrageous_orange_folded.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vsIt1FN2wy8/UapWGzuKcgI/AAAAAAAAAZ8/t_hPU_Ku5Ts/s1600/_0008_outrageous_orange_folded.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
A pump classic of choice for the Duchess of Cambridge is <a href="http://www.prettyballerinas.com/" target="_blank">Pretty Ballerina</a>. Like Tieks, they come in all colours and textures. I have an investment pair in black lace and I haven't regretted the hefty price tag I paid.<br />
<br />
Finally <a href="http://www.michaelkors.com/store/catalog/templates/P6.jhtml?itemId=cat2501&parentId=cat121&masterId=cat000000" target="_blank">Michael Kors </a>do nice pumps (although confusingly called flats on their website). I have a lovely jewelled pair but they are on their last legs. Only because I have worn them so much though. So comfy and so cool at the same time. I've tried on the classic Fulton Moccasin in the new Multrees Walk shop in Edinburgh but alas they didn't have the comfort factor of my existing pair. Still nice though.<br />

NB Jane was 40 today! Happy Birthday Hen. Gotcha!! Great party my dear xxAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12123582625740397610noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3202388792129948418.post-52323263954966244822013-05-28T07:27:00.002-07:002013-05-28T07:36:26.729-07:00....Wedding Frocks That Rock!It's wedding time of the year and last weekend I had my own family wedding to attend, that of FSF's little sister. Question was what to wear? We knew the venue would be fairly plush - take a look at <a href="http://www.stubtonhall.co.uk/" target="_blank">Stubton Hall</a> in Lincolnshire. Race was on to find that elusive frock to wear to the party.<br />
<br />
Back in April, narrowed the frock down to choice of two: First was a <a href="http://www.reiss.com/womens/dresses/pepper/peppermint/" target="_blank">peppermint coloured a-line dress called "Pepper" with really cute back detailing from Reiss (£159)</a>. The second was a <a href="http://www.janedavidson.co.uk/buy-online/nicole-miller/dresses/linen-tuck-dress-in-navy" target="_blank">Nicole Miller dress from Jane Davidson (£249) in cobalt blue</a>. (Colour in link is navy version).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RtTeDEl7me4/UaS-hhPmiFI/AAAAAAAAAZY/zPj3FQ5RYhQ/s1600/IMG_0249.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RtTeDEl7me4/UaS-hhPmiFI/AAAAAAAAAZY/zPj3FQ5RYhQ/s200/IMG_0249.JPG" width="148" /></a></div>
<br />
Drafted in FLS to make the final decision and although a lot more, I plucked for the Nicole Miller dress as it gave me an amazing siloutte and the colour really lifted my skin tone. The Reiss dress was nice but in many respects hid my figure and now that I've toned up after having the kids, I wanted something to show it off and be a bit more daring.<br />
<br />
Next item to find was a jacket of some description. I nearly brought (also from Jane Davidson) a Goat off-white cropped jacket (more like a Bolero) but consensus was that it was ageing and again, trying to cover bingo wings when actually I have very toned arms. I almost decided not to buy a jacket but at the last minute found an amazing fitted, cropped jacket from Zara (£49.99). The controversial bit is that the jacket is WHITE!!! (Yes I committed the cardinal sin of wearing white on someone else's wedding day! Sod it I say, the jacket looked lovely and my mother-in-law did wear an entire cream outfit to my wedding).<br />
<br />
Shoes were easy thanks to a 20% off weekend at M&S. Found some lovely coral peep toes and they were dead comfy all day. Finally a beaded muticolour clutch to bring together all the colours - cobalt blue, coral, white from Zara (£39.99).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FNL00hEBPNM/UaS9s11d5AI/AAAAAAAAAY8/lqC2vyXBa7o/s1600/IMG_0310.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="189" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FNL00hEBPNM/UaS9s11d5AI/AAAAAAAAAY8/lqC2vyXBa7o/s320/IMG_0310.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Here is the finished look, just sorry I haven't any more photos of the look at the minute.<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Coral Peep toes M&S, Zara clutch on table</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
NB I havent regretted buying the Nicole Miller dress as its such an investment piece and is really different. Will definitely get a lot more wear out of it. Thanks to the attentive staff of Jane Davidson who brought out the dress for me to try! jx<br />

<br />
One Sunday morning the warm sun came up and pop! Out of the egg came a tiny, Zara loving caterpillar. She decided she needed a shopping spree!<br />
<br />
On Monday she brought one china blue t-shirt...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qb8okSWyf_0/UZKdvcCgqdI/AAAAAAAAAX8/yzASZW9jjBM/s1600/IMG_0304.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qb8okSWyf_0/UZKdvcCgqdI/AAAAAAAAAX8/yzASZW9jjBM/s200/IMG_0304.JPG" width="136" /></a></div>
<br />
On Tuesday she brought a white jacquared jacket...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ttFR9O7l6UM/UZKd37g6zSI/AAAAAAAAAYE/Uquom2_TFlA/s1600/IMG_0307.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ttFR9O7l6UM/UZKd37g6zSI/AAAAAAAAAYE/Uquom2_TFlA/s200/IMG_0307.JPG" width="140" /></a></div>
<br />
On Wednesday she brought one pair of navy linen ankle length trousers...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-29us2vlA4MQ/UZKeCjEiokI/AAAAAAAAAYM/XMi5SoAMcQc/s1600/IMG_0312.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-29us2vlA4MQ/UZKeCjEiokI/AAAAAAAAAYM/XMi5SoAMcQc/s200/IMG_0312.JPG" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
On Thursday she brought a pair of pastel mint green stretch jeans...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0mlZc6jv8r4/UZKeIpnfeXI/AAAAAAAAAYU/91wQ-hi-NCI/s1600/IMG_0311.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0mlZc6jv8r4/UZKeIpnfeXI/AAAAAAAAAYU/91wQ-hi-NCI/s320/IMG_0311.JPG" width="150" /></a></div>
<br />
On Friday she brought a multicoloured beaded clutch...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8P5MgoxzfXk/UZKeUWudJnI/AAAAAAAAAYc/imq6FFhyAkg/s1600/IMG_0310.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="189" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8P5MgoxzfXk/UZKeUWudJnI/AAAAAAAAAYc/imq6FFhyAkg/s320/IMG_0310.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
On Saturday she brought, one jungle print scarf, one don't forget to be awesome japanese style tee, one kids bow tie, anchor shirt and v-neck jumper.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zufJWiDEhGs/UZKehKym6lI/AAAAAAAAAYs/bGmy6g9B3hU/s1600/IMG_0308.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zufJWiDEhGs/UZKehKym6lI/AAAAAAAAAYs/bGmy6g9B3hU/s320/IMG_0308.JPG" width="202" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--5kKX-h4Jd8/UZKebC1BwKI/AAAAAAAAAYk/llLZ0hT14yA/s1600/IMG_0314.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--5kKX-h4Jd8/UZKebC1BwKI/AAAAAAAAAYk/llLZ0hT14yA/s320/IMG_0314.JPG" width="290" /></a></div>
<br />
That night she had to "fess" up to Hubby.<br />
<br />
<br />
The next day was Sunday again. She returned one of the tops that didn't fit so well and felt much less guilty.<br />
<br />
But she wasn't a rich Zara loving caterpillar anymore, no no, she was a broke caterpillar.<br />
<br />
She kept the clothes unworn in her wardrobe for more than two weeks to think about them. Then she started to dress herself piece by piece, wiggled her way out of the house and....<br />
<br />
She was a beautifully dressed butterfly.<br />
<br />
jx<br />
<br />
ps Absolutely loving Zara this SS13. What are your Zara buys this SS13?<br />
<br />
NB No caterpillars were hurt during the making of this story.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12123582625740397610noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3202388792129948418.post-46144788963363275752013-05-09T06:40:00.004-07:002013-05-09T06:40:50.234-07:00....Mixing it up with Monochrome A friend of mine recently brought a navy and cream (kind of ethnic) print monochrome dress from Gap. It's a lovely dress and ticks all the right boxes in terms of trends for SS13 but it also presents a dilemma. Sometimes monchrome needs a bit more va va voom to make it work.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here's how we turned the dress from ordinary to extraordinary.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
1. Belt to nip in waist and bright clashing bag to enhance the monochrome...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Belt Reiss, Bag Kate Spade</td></tr>

2. Peep toe heels pictured in navy (my friend had a pair of jade green heels to tie in with the bag which she wore to a Christening-perfect!)<br />

Her article got me thinking. I was one of those aspiring Fashionista's in the 90's who also lusted after Joseph's perfect black bootcut trousers. As a teenager in the 90's, I didn't have the budget to buy them alas.<br />
<br />
However, Joseph never dropped off my radar so when I had the wallet to match the price tags, I took the liberty of investing in a few of their classics.<br />
<br />
I remember this outfit particularly. When I first saw it, it was displayed on the model in the Joseph shop window. I loved it just as it was and so went into the shop and brought exactly what I saw. In fact, the obi style belt had been so popular I ended up buying the one off the model in the window.<br />
<br />
I haven't been able to wear the outfit for the past few years due to pregnancies but I'm glad I kept it. Feels good to be wearing it & Joseph again!<br />
<br />
jx<br />
<br />
ps A sneak around the Joseph website and there are a couple similar style blouses this season. Try <a href="http://www.joseph.co.uk/en/ecomuk/tunics/crepe-de-chine-clarence-blouse/invt/s3214013570/" target="_blank">Crepe De Chine Clarence blouse</a> at £255 with a similar Nehru neckline. The notes say "slouchy and loose, streamline the look with a pair of slick skinny trousers." Looks like my white bootcut trousers fitted round the leg fit the bill then? Good choice BestDressedBabe!<br />

It's a prestigious event with the students hoping that a designer (or few) may snap them up for future employment. <br />

Which is your favourite?<br />
<br />
NB: Costume, handbags, hats and more designers still to come....Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12123582625740397610noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3202388792129948418.post-87225882040603887402013-04-24T15:18:00.001-07:002013-04-24T15:18:21.842-07:00....To-Wit To-Whoo in TweedWell, it seems there is a lot of tweed in the shops at the moment so I thought I'd share my favourite picks with you....<br />
<br />
Starting with this beautiful <a href="http://www.jigsaw-online.com/multicolour-tweed-shift-dress//jigsaw-clothing/fcp-product/6332" target="_blank">Jigsaw multicolour tweed dress</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DxnTbGff6vc/UXhYjL2HnTI/AAAAAAAAAR8/0Yflu7ph2vU/s1600/image.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DxnTbGff6vc/UXhYjL2HnTI/AAAAAAAAAR8/0Yflu7ph2vU/s200/image.jpeg" width="160" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Personally I'd go for an elegant look at team with Prada sling backs and a classic 60's style jacket....<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RiEsKked5LM/UXhTnMyGe4I/AAAAAAAAARg/giLxexDCCGM/s1600/image.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RiEsKked5LM/UXhTnMyGe4I/AAAAAAAAARg/giLxexDCCGM/s200/image.jpeg" width="148" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Shoes Prada, Jacket Hobbs</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Also loving <a href="http://www.jaeger.co.uk/Emma%20Tweed%20Jacket/660002E,en_GB,pd.html?dwvar_660002E_color=07300&dwvar_660002E_size=6&start=1&cgid=brands-boutique-women-jackets" target="_blank">Jaeger Boutique's Emma Tweed jacket in bright green</a>-and even better, it's on sale from £199 to £125! Don't let the colour scare you - it's very lifting. It has a pretty peplum style edge and a cute cross over pleat at the back.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BEORwlErE3s/UXhYwjN5ObI/AAAAAAAAASE/kj0a9sEsyZs/s1600/image-1.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BEORwlErE3s/UXhYwjN5ObI/AAAAAAAAASE/kj0a9sEsyZs/s1600/image-1.jpeg" /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="-webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; color: black;"></span></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ac4HdlqNtA0/UXhXt5NsWUI/AAAAAAAAAR0/mpf-UfBqa-A/s1600/image-2.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ac4HdlqNtA0/UXhXt5NsWUI/AAAAAAAAAR0/mpf-UfBqa-A/s1600/image-2.jpeg" /></a></div>
<br />
If budgets are tighter and you like the spring yellow theme then <a href="http://www.zara.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/uk/en/zara-neu-S2013/400010/1156526/COTTON%20TWEED%20DRESS" target="_blank">Zara have a yellow tweed dress for £35.99</a>-isn't cotton tweed a bit of an oxymoron though?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0tFOoick58s/UXhY-foNibI/AAAAAAAAASM/yzXKN17dWaw/s1600/image.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0tFOoick58s/UXhY-foNibI/AAAAAAAAASM/yzXKN17dWaw/s320/image.jpeg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
If your feeling brave & want to show off your pins, then <a href="http://www.harveynichols.com/womens/categories-1/designer-shorts/short/s447371-tweed-and-twill-shorts.html?colour=ORANGE+AND+OTHER" target="_blank">Victoria Beckham has a pair of tweed twill shorts</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1bTs6nPW-do/UXhZD6zF0hI/AAAAAAAAASU/zv-c6-6JsMk/s1600/image-3.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1bTs6nPW-do/UXhZD6zF0hI/AAAAAAAAASU/zv-c6-6JsMk/s200/image-3.jpeg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
Finally, how could I do a post about tweed and not mention the now infamous <a href="http://www.mulberry.com/#/storefront/c5702/8923/moreviews/" target="_blank">Mulberry mint tweed coat with daisy buttons</a> that Mrs C (Duchess of Cambridge for those who don't know my blog) wore earlier this week. Suffice to say its sold out but here's the picture of it for us all to admire anyway....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TnSvq4uFXUw/UXhZZlzuAhI/AAAAAAAAASc/VDrpse-gcGA/s1600/image-1.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TnSvq4uFXUw/UXhZZlzuAhI/AAAAAAAAASc/VDrpse-gcGA/s1600/image-1.jpeg" /></a></div>

<br />
NB I also happen to own a Jigsaw Tweed jacket that is tres Channelesque! C'est Bon?<br />

Through the powers of Twitter, I came across Malcolm Mowat's website and got in touch straight away because their spring scarves are just lovely. Kindly, Malcolm Mowat agreed for me to borrow the <a href="http://www.malcolmmowats.com/products/fionn-scarf" target="_blank">Fionn Spring Scarf</a> so that I could bring you more fabulous ways to tie a scarf. There are two other scarves in the range as seen in the photo below.<br />

<br />
Firstly a bit about the scarves....<br />
<br />
Malcolm Mowat scarves are made from 100% pure worsted wool. If you didn't know, the wool has many great qualities such as fine, durable and lightweight. Worsted wool is also a bit like leather in many respects because it becomes even softer with age. The scarves are priced at £35 which I think is excellent value for such high quality garments and for what would undoubtedly be an investment wardrobe piece.<br />
<br />
Here we go again then.....<br />
<br />
1. The "driving a classic car look" (with roof down of course!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5aflx5-AKgo/UWm5y-ZKGjI/AAAAAAAAANU/c7uGmO8XgHY/s1600/DSC02575.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5aflx5-AKgo/UWm5y-ZKGjI/AAAAAAAAANU/c7uGmO8XgHY/s320/DSC02575.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
2. Reverse neck tie because its all about the BACK these days!<br />

3. The bag accessory knot<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Bag, Anya Hindmarch</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
4. The belt<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0PqjtNfm3OY/UWm7QYuQ9-I/AAAAAAAAAN8/dE1auufMLaE/s1600/DSC02553.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0PqjtNfm3OY/UWm7QYuQ9-I/AAAAAAAAAN8/dE1auufMLaE/s320/DSC02553.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
Hope you like my new variations (and the scarf of course)? Which is your favourite this time? Mine is the belt - look much nicer than a leather belt and driving a classic car - obviously weather dependent that one though!<br />

NB Malcolm Mowat's scarves would look just as good on a man as they are very unisex in appeal. The website is pretty cool too with lots of amazing Scottish shots.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12123582625740397610noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3202388792129948418.post-14296551384635561172013-04-16T13:52:00.000-07:002013-04-16T13:52:22.377-07:00....Swing into Spring with Pretty Pastels & FloralsI've lucked out with the pastel trend this SS13 - possibly my favourite colour palette. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fRoB0n-qWWM/UW1IlEAsPsI/AAAAAAAAAP8/WKQwhYUyk-8/s1600/IMG_1822.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fRoB0n-qWWM/UW1IlEAsPsI/AAAAAAAAAP8/WKQwhYUyk-8/s320/IMG_1822.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-La-Cm_uKV2Y/UW1IvtuJI4I/AAAAAAAAAQE/HJe6tFctk18/s1600/IMG_1823.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-La-Cm_uKV2Y/UW1IvtuJI4I/AAAAAAAAAQE/HJe6tFctk18/s320/IMG_1823.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
It seems there is an elephant in the room because she was on her travels in Cambodia last summer and brought these Elephant Branded bags below for a few pounds! So, the question is this, how much is John Lewis paying Elephant Branded for the bags??? And how much does it cost Elephant Branded to make the items??? (The website states for every clipper bag purchased, Elephant Branded will donate a school bag to a child in Africa or Asia. And for every purse or wallet brought, a child will receive a stationery kit). Something doesn't add up!<br />

I visited towards the end of the day but rumour has it people were queuing to get in before it opened its doors this morning!<br />
<br />
Here's a nosey round the boutique (I did check with the manager about taking the photos)<br />

<br />
Last but not least....my purchase, a classic DAKS London Blazer in pristine condition. Cost me £24.95!!!! Best of all is the cut and hang-perfect, but then I would expect nothing less from the brand. You have to trust me on this one. It may look a bit old school, even farmer like but once I've shown you a few looks with it you will understand my excitement at this latest wardrobe edition. Incidentally, my friend brought a brand new pair of purple and gold suede Office shoes that set her back a mere £8.50.<br />

The shop specialises in Scottish woven tweeds & uses the fabric in clothing, rugs, bags etc.<br />
<br />
I happen to have a beautiful Anta tartan silk scarf so I'd thought I'd show you all the ways I like to wear it. It doesn't have to be an Anta scarf for these styles to work of course-just my chosen accessory for today's looks.<br />
<br />
Here we go.....<br />
<br />
1) "Little cravatte" is what I like to call this neck-tie<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-u_4NdMR6Afc/UWHNEsYPakI/AAAAAAAAANE/n6D1V_qIsPE/s1600/IMG_2882.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-u_4NdMR6Afc/UWHNEsYPakI/AAAAAAAAANE/n6D1V_qIsPE/s320/IMG_2882.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
2) "Like a duchess" (similar to how the <a href="http://www.scotsman.com/news/celebrity/duke-and-duchess-of-cambridge-attend-ayrshire-opening-1-2879982" target="_blank">Duchess of Cambridge recently wore her Strathearn tartan scarf</a>)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jHoRKLRseVw/UWHM1igmlgI/AAAAAAAAAM8/1keGNVKssls/s1600/IMG_2976.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jHoRKLRseVw/UWHM1igmlgI/AAAAAAAAAM8/1keGNVKssls/s320/IMG_2976.jpg" width="152" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
3) Hipster tie-side & front (makes bum look great and totally funky look)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1biuGhkEYj4/UWHL8pAEgtI/AAAAAAAAAMk/hsH8h1Y2hJ8/s1600/IMG_2895.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1biuGhkEYj4/UWHL8pAEgtI/AAAAAAAAAMk/hsH8h1Y2hJ8/s200/IMG_2895.jpg" width="161" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LdPYJnNec0Q/UWHMb8SBtPI/AAAAAAAAAMs/H1BGRuuMeKM/s1600/IMG_2910.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="159" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LdPYJnNec0Q/UWHMb8SBtPI/AAAAAAAAAMs/H1BGRuuMeKM/s200/IMG_2910.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yJ-xzhVNzqA/UWHMq6hl6JI/AAAAAAAAAM0/a5qZs9ohVq0/s1600/IMG_2919.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yJ-xzhVNzqA/UWHMq6hl6JI/AAAAAAAAAM0/a5qZs9ohVq0/s320/IMG_2919.jpg" width="172" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
4) Possibly a bit Scottish Widows advert?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jW4-KoZ1l34/UWHLzuuU63I/AAAAAAAAAMc/fuDUtU84DbA/s1600/IMG_2848.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jW4-KoZ1l34/UWHLzuuU63I/AAAAAAAAAMc/fuDUtU84DbA/s320/IMG_2848.jpg" width="253" /></a></div>
<br />
So, which is your favourite scarf style? Mine has to be the hipster side tie as its so different and I never see anyone else wearing they're scarf in that style. Closely followed by little cravatte though.<br />

Boutique is one of Jaeger's newer brands with appeal to a younger audience interested in fashionable separates for working girls. According to the <a href="http://www.jaeger.co.uk/boutique/boutique,en_GB,sc.html" target="_blank">Jaeger website</a>, Californian cool meets 70's chic in their playful SS13 collection. <br />
<br />
I would certainly described this new Boutique top as playful. Pillar box red meets breton style incorporating Jaeger's signature colour palette of ivory & navy. Mixed it up with my own Kate Spade lime green bag & peep toes for extra clashiness!<br />
<br />
Here's the complete look....<br />

Today, March 29th is the first day of the "Tartan Day" Scotland Festival (actual Tartan Day is 6th April, a celebration of the Declaration of Arbroath 1320). The festival is a celebration of all things Scottish, including tartan.<br />
<br />
Since I married a Scot who has his own family tartan, I suddenly got a lot more interested in this woven fabric so I thought I'd take the opportunity to tell you about our family tartan in today's post. I can proudly say that our family tartan is Ancient Keith (see my updated Blog wallpaper/Twitter background) for a sample. Its actually a really lovely tartan with sea-blues, greens and navy. FSF had a pair of bespoke Ancient Keith tartan trews made specially for our wedding from <a href="http://www.dege-skinner.co.uk/" target="_blank">Savile Row Tailor Dege & Skinner</a>.<br />
<br />
If you want to wear a tartan then there re are a few ground rules to be aware of. Strictly speaking if you are not Scottish and/or do not have a clan (hence tartan) then you should wear one of the universal tartans such as Royal Stewart or Black Watch. Other than that, you're pretty much good to go.<br />

Been debating whether to do this particular post but to hell with it, I'm going to do it, so here goes...<br />
<br />
A few months ago, FSF (Fantastic Silver Fox for those new to my blog) sprung a v special surprise weekend at Gleneagles on me (without the 2xHeWawas). Hooray, what a lovely surprise but given we were going to such a glamourous place, my underwear department was in dire need of an overhaul.<br />
<br />
That's when I stumbled across the most amazing lingerie boutique I've ever come across. Better than anything in London and that's saying something as I lived there nearly 10 years. That's where my odyssey began....<br />
<br />
The <a href="http://www.odysseyboutique.co.uk/" target="_blank">Odyssey Boutique</a> itself is in Edinburgh's West End Village. The owner Sarah knows what she's talking about, I know this as it's now my go-to place for really feminine, pretty but sexy underwear. Her "edit" of underwear in stock is pretty damn good if you ask me. Her brands range from Fantasie right up to Stella McCartney. Sarah has a memory like a Grand Chess Master and she always remembers what I've tried before or it is the little black book she keeps of your size, styles you've tried etc (that's not weird by the way, its all about great service in my opinion). Either way, I've never come away empty handed. As well as the underwear, there is swimwear, nails, tanning and waxing. In fact, Odyssey made it into Harper's Bazaar A-list waxers!<br />
<br />
You can understand my excitement then, when for my birthday last week I received this....<br />
<br />

(Surely I'm stating the obvious that there's <b>NO</b> <i>new look post</i> for this??? Me in my underwear on my blog...Never... HaHa!!!)<br />
<br />
Thanks again FSF<br />

NB: Thanks Sarah also!<br />

Fantastic silver fox (FSF) is taking me out for dinner to celebrate my birthday. Like any BestDressedBabe, immediate thoughts turn to what-to-wear. If the weather was warm and spring-like, I've got numerous options but given the wintry blast, my options are somewhat limited. I think our dinner date is somewhere fairly nice, but hip enough that I can still wear my favourite dark skinnies. Just need a pretty long-sleeve billowy blouse to complete the look.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Back in Jan I saw the <a href="http://www.tedbaker.com/women's/women's_clothing/tops_+_t-shirts/102051-safari_print_shirt/detail.aspx" target="_blank">Ted Baker NITI safari print zebra blouse (£89)</a>. It's really pretty, sheer, with 3/4 sleeves but perhaps a bit summery given the current weather. Off I headed to Edinburgh's West End Village on Friday afternoon (cutting it a bit fine with dinner the same evening but I was on a mission).<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: black;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="-webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; color: black;">First shop I dropped into was Sam Brown Boutique. A small boutique with an array for floaty floral print tops. Lots of Great Plains & Avoca lining the rails. I explained my predicament to the owner. She immediately offered to go downstairs and dig-out an AW12 silk blouse from French Connection. It was one of those "I've got just the thing" sort of moments....and what a surprise this blouse turned out to be. I would never in a million years have picked this off the rail but somehow it just works. Best thing is the price, £150 reduced to £35. Not bad for pure silk & French Connection. Makes the Ted Baker blouse seem expensive at £89 given its polyester!</span></span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>

Here's the final look for our dinner date....</div>

<br />
NB: Dinner date was to <a href="http://www.purslanerestaurant.co.uk/" target="_blank">Purslane</a>, Stockbridge. FSF heard about it on the grapevine. We had a sublime 3 course dinner, best I've had in ages. I choose a cauliflower panna cotta for started and sole for main. The sole looked so pretty-almost like white marshmallows on the plate. Really small an intimate. Definitely want to go back.</div>
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12123582625740397610noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3202388792129948418.post-9298469305153074212013-03-15T06:37:00.000-07:002013-03-15T07:20:48.125-07:00....In search of the perfect white tankBeen on the hunt for a white vest, the kind every woman needs in her wardrobe. My problem is this. At 5"7 I don't have the longest legs in the world, but I do have a fairly long body. As a result most vest tops are either too short (finish way above the waist) or ride up. The other problem is that I'm looking for a nice clingy cotton mix that isn't like the usual cheap vest tops that you find in Topshop etc -you know the culprits-cotton so transparent there's no point wearing the vest or nasty ribbed fabric.<br />
<br />
I was in high hopes when I stumbled across <a href="http://www.whistles.co.uk/fcp/product/whistles//ella-pima-vest/903000059566" target="_blank">this £25 Whistles Ella Pima white vest</a>. Looked perfect online but couldn't have been more disappointed when it arrived. Totally translucent, fabric so cheap that they can't possibly think people would pay £25!!! Shame on you whistles. Plus, it was miles too short in the length. What an insult and disappointment.<br />
<br />
So my search continued.....<br />
<br />
Then I remembered <a href="http://www.jigsaw-online.com/modal-long-lace-vest/vests-&-camisoles/jigsaw-clothing/fcp-product/2110" target="_blank">Jigsaw's modal lace trim vests</a>. I own about 5 in various shades and length wise they are great. The only snag is the empire hemline line below the bust. It's very visible when worn under tops-not a flattering look. At £24 though, they're certainly good value compared to the whistles version.<br />
<br />
Search continued......<br />
<br />
Then I found it...my perfect vest in H&M for the princely sum of £5.99! I don't believe it. It's Pima cotton (95% organic/5% elastane) and a lovely quality, not see-through at all and a great length with plenty of spare material to stay in place and not shimmy up above the waistline.<br />
<br />
Take a look....and then head to H&M<br />

<br />
I thought I'd do some research as my first job in London was on Piccadilly and we used to go for after work drinks around Shepherds Market - loads of lovely boutiques round there. Makes me nostalgic.<br />
<br />
Anyhow, some pieces of jewellery caught my eye in J&C Martin and I want to share them with you.<br />
<br />
1. Aren't these the cutest earrings ever? Love that they are asymmetric too. They also remind me of <i>THOSE</i> oak leaf & acorn <a href="http://www.robinsonpelham.com/pressandpublicity.aspx" target="_blank">Robinson Pelham earrings</a> that were given to Mrs C (NB the Duchess of Cambridge to those who haven't read my blog world) by her parents for her wedding day. A touch of royalty but not at right royal prices! £89<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<br />
2. Got to have this heavy aqua-marine bangle, mostly because aqua marine is my gemstone but also because it is a great piece to wear everyday without looking too flash. £599<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y5g5x_D2LO0/UT0CbjZn07I/AAAAAAAAAHg/sPpbGMEdesI/s1600/Aqua&DiaBangleThumb.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y5g5x_D2LO0/UT0CbjZn07I/AAAAAAAAAHg/sPpbGMEdesI/s200/Aqua&DiaBangleThumb.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
3. Great amethyst cocktail ring to make a statement. I'm always a sucker for a pear-shaped gem stone as my engagement ring is a pear. £139.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I wasn't disappointed. I knew I would like this boutique as soon as I walked up the steps.<br />
<br />
Epitome is how boutique shopping for designer clothes should be-as the name suggests. It's a beautiful, spacious shop with lovely large fitting rooms.<br />
<br />
Accessories, including a lovely selection of <a href="https://www.alexmonroe.com/" target="_blank">Alex Monroe</a> jewellery (I have a pair of his Goldcrest hoop earrings on my <a href="http://bestdressedbabe.blogspot.co.uk/p/my-wish-list.html" target="_blank">SS13 Wish List</a>) are dotted in amongst the clothes, of which there is a lot of luxury, but very wearable, cashmere by <a href="http://www.cameron-taylor.com/" target="_blank">Cameron Taylor</a>. Great selection of jeans - Citizens of Humanity, Paul Smith, Seven for all Mankind to name a few. Lots of pretty Prada, Marc Jacobs, Burberry etc-frankly what's not to like about that!<br />
<br />
I came away with a fab pair of Citizens of Humanity skinnies for £50 (sale) and was highly tempted by a v. cool Prada necklace.<br />

A good, stylish Parka is a wardrobe essential these days. They seem to come in the shops year on year so its best to invest in a decent one.<br />
<br />
I brought mine from Jigsaw a couple years ago for £159 but it still looks like new thanks to the olive metallic fabric. Luckily for me the SS13 monochrome vibe going on means that the black and white stripy lining brings it bang up-to-date. Phew...<br />

I brought this denim dress not long ago (big confession here....from a Boden party). Got it home and then had second thoughts, namely is it just too plain Jane.<br />
<br />
Well, after reading the article about denim and red in March Elle it gave me an idea....<br />
